NYC DOE Title III Summer Fashion Camp Information

Hobby Quest’s Fashion Design program encourages students to use their creativity and individuality to create one-of-a-kind wearable designs.  Fashion students will start out by sketching their initial designs based on what they choose to create.  We will then teach them all of the skills needed to help them bring their creations to life, including basic hand sewing skills such as how to thread a needle, make a stitch, add fringe, appliques and hems, progressing to advanced skills like taking measurements and embroidery.  Included in our sessions will be lessons on the history of design, a list of design related vocabulary words and information on different designers and trends.  Depending on the number of sessions, students will create tops, skirts/shorts, vests, dresses or accessories, such as tote bags, headbands, scarves, etc.
